This article focuses on the implication of the activities of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of South Africa. The TRC did its job successfully with active involvement of the society. The reason for its success is that the commission put their emphasis on through investigation of what happened, to whom, who were involved, rather than concentrating on obtaining ‘forgiveness’ or ‘reconciliation’ between victims and offenders. The TRC, endowed with powers of investigation, to summon and exemption, opened its investigations to the public. Their investigation thoroughly revealed social injustices and structural contradictions with the full support of the South African people. In brief, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa contribution significantly in bringing democratic social change to the country.
