    This article deals with Hoam(penname) Mun Il-Pong(1888~1939)’s academic relationships with scholars and his works on Korean Studies. Mun was one of the distinguished modern nationalist historians in the realm of “Korean Studies in 1934.” At the middle of 1930’s, Korean Studies consisted of the events for death of Dasan’s commemoration(茶山逝去記念事業) and the Publication of Yoeyoundan- junseo(與猶堂全書).
    Jeong In-bo, An Chae-hang and Moon Il-Pyong were re-discovering Shilhak through the progress of movement for Korean Studies in the mid 1930’s. New points that this article focuses on can be summarized as follows.
    Firstly, Mun was evaluated as a pioneer of Korean Studies. For the purpose of approaching his writing on Korean national and cultural history, this paper focuses on his academic relationships with other Korean historians. Secondly, I examine the notion of Korean identity and thought which was called Chosun Sim(朝鮮心) with connected with Korean culture. Lastly, Mun stressed the historical positivism and wrote historical articles and published poplar historical books. He strove to established both rational writings and esthetics of nation mind through the Korean thoughts through the Korean studies on Practical Studies(Shilhak).
