‘Pictorialism of poetry’ is regarded to a noticeable feature in Korean Modernist Literature of the 1930s. The pictorial elements in poetry are closely related with modernity. And the literacy subject which is concerned with pictorialism of poetry is intended to be wider to interaction of genre between poetry and art. Thus, viewpoints of research which is concerned with the subject of the ‘pictorialism of poetry’ are various. But what is important is that the crack occurs in the system when a symbol system is transformed to another symbol system. Namely, the meaning of ‘pictorialism of poetry’ have a very significant implication related to signification.
The subject of ‘pictorialism of poetry’ in Korean Modernist Literature of the 1930s is very relevant to thinking about poetic language which is vibrating on the border between the possibility of representation and the impossibility of representation. So what’s important in this subject are how to enter into close relationship between poetry and pictures, or how the language vibrates on the border, or what this vibration on the border creates something new. Through these critical mind, this study analyzes the new art aesthetics in Korean Modernist Literature of the 1930s.
