What is the most proper relationship between Christian ethics and church? In this paper, the question is transformed to another question: what must be the main issue of Christian ethics? Seeking to answer the question, this paper investigates ethics through ``worship`` in light of the ecclesial ethics of Stanley Hauerwas. According to Hauerwas (and Samuel Wells), contrary to four misunderstandings on ethics and worship, there are inherent relations between two factors. ①Generally speaking, ethics is about the real, worship is about the unreal. But ethics has an intimate correlation with worship: life is a rehearsal for worship. ②People think, worship is about beauty, whereas ethics is about the good. But, in worship, Christians seek God who combines goodness, truth, and beauty. ③Someone says, worship is about the internal whereas ethics is about the external. But worship is the most significantly ethical thing that Christians do. ④ Other says, worship is about words, whereas ethics is about actions. But Christian worship is shaped by instructions and habits of actions. The focus of Hauerwas is recovery of ethical concerns about Church as a community of worship. Moreover, Hauerwas says, Christian ethics is a discipline that seeks to help Christian fulfill all righteousness from and with the Trinitarian God of Jesus Christ. Now Hauerwas has been criticized by theologians because of the tendency of sectarian withdrawal, and so his approach must be balanced with the concerns about social responsibility.
