The purpose of this study is to show the metaphorical aspects of basic emotional expressions. focusing on the meaning extension of verbs, in terms of experientialism and folk models of cognitive linguistics. The results of this study are as follows: First, the number of major source domains of basic emotions are 11; "fluid in a container", "thing", "plant", "food", "enemy", "fire", "natural force", "arms", "string", "cold", "balloon" basic emotions, anger and fear has 8, and tension has 7, and sadness and joy have 6 kinds of source domains. Second, 231 verbs are used to express the basic emotions. The number of each source domain are as follows: "fluid in a container"(58) >thing"(44) >enemy"(43)>plant"(20) / "natural force"(20) >fire"(16) >food"(13) >string"(8) >arms"(5) >cold"(3) >balloon" (1). Third, the types of source domains applicable to basic emotions are (1) those applicable to all of the basic emotions: "fluid in a container" "thing" "plant" (2) those applicable to most of the basic emotions: "food" "enemy" "fire" "natural force" (3) those applicable to some of the basic emotions: "cold" "arms" "balloon". Lastly, source domains such as "fluid in a container" "plant" "food" "enemy" "fire" "natural force" has a scenario of the occurrence of an emotion→its ripening→its disappearance. In this case, the activational aspects of verbs regarding source domains are various according to the types and specific aspects of metaphorization.
