The purpose of this study was to examine the self-management behaviors of junior golf players in an effort to seek ways of improving their self-management. The population of this study consisted of male and female secondary school golf players.
After 190 questionnaires were handed out, the answer sheets from 186 respondents were analyzed by a statistical package 20.0 except for the incomplete ones. Cronbach alpha coefficients, descriptive statistics analysis, t-test and ANOVA were utilized. The findings of the study were as follows:
First, whether there would be any gender differences in self- management behaviors was analyzed, and statistically significant differences were found between the boys and the girls only in interpersonal relationship and mental management.
Second, whether there would be any differences in self-management behaviors according to the grade of school was analyzed, and the specialized high school players were most excellent in body management, followed by the academic high school players and the middle school players, and the differences were statistically significant at the 5% level of significance. In terms of interpersonal management, the specialized high school players were most excellent, followed by the middle school players and the academic high school players, and the differences were statistically significant at the 1% level of significance. The specialized high school students were most excellent in training management, unique behavioral management, life management and mental management, followed by the middle school students and the academic high school students, and the differences were statistically significant at the 1% level of significance.
Third, following the results on the analyzed differences in the area of personal conditioning based on the individual experience, in the low factor area, groups with at least 5 years of experience came out on top following the order of groups with 3-4 years, 2 years or less, and statistically following with the 1% level of significance was given attention to.
