This study intended to clarify construal operations in linguistic levels, mainly on the lexical level, from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. The results are as follows: First, meaning does not reflect an object or situation objectively, but is a conceptualization in the process of forming a meaning and a subjective construal of a conceptualizer. Second, the construal is an alternate approach, and refers to the choice of a conceptualizer to express an object or situation. The construal is the revelation of the active cognitive ability of a conceptualizer for effective communication. Its dynamic phenomena are construal operations. Third, the dimensions of construal operations are for the convenience of explanation, and their main mechanisms are specificity, vantage point, viewpoint, focus, frame, and so forth in the lexical level, in particular the dimension of viewpoint. Fourth, the construal theory provides a new perspective for the understanding of synonymity and oppositeness of objects and situations. Also, the cognitive tendencies and strategies of construal operations are reflected in linguistic expressions.
