The purposes of this study were to clarify the items of living conditions which be considered to affect physical growth and development. The subjects were 1,203 girls from 9 to 14 years of age in Jeon Ju, IRi of Chollabuk-Do. The physique, physical fitness and living conditions of the sublects were measured or surveyed. The results were summarized as following: 1) In the characteristics of physical growth and development of the present school girls: The whole elements of physique and physical fitness were the relative balance in 11 years old, but after that age, physique elements tended to prevail over physical fitness elements except muscular strength & fundamental motor skill. 2) In the relationship among physique, physical fitness elements and the items of living conditions : The items of home life and the eating habits were found to be considerably important variables influencing physique elements. The items of exercise and play were found to be considerably important variables influencing physical fitness elements. 3) In the degree of relationship of living condition items to physique and physical fitness elements : The relationship of physique elements and living conditions was the highest in heredity 0.166 of average correlation, and the ratio of significant correlation was the highest in nutrition intake 37.50%. The relationship of physical fitness elements and living conditions was the highest in heredity 0.173 of average correlation, and the ratio of significant correlation was the highest in exercise 22.92% and play 22.22%. 4) In the degree of contributions of living condition to physique and physical fitness elements : The home life 9.55% and the eating habits 9.99% in physique elements showed the highest contribution, and the home life 7.73% and the exercise 6.11% in physical fitness elements showed the highest contribution.
