The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Danjeon breathing and walking exercise on activities of daily living, life stress and depression in the elderly women. The subjects of this study were total 100 persons(exercise group: 50 persons, control group: 50 persons), who are residents of S silver town in K city. Subjects in Danjeon breathing and walking exercise group performed their assigned exercise 95~100m/day, 2~3d/w(treadmill walking: 3day, Kuk Sun Do`s Danjeon breathing: 2day) for 12weeks. The method of this study is using questionnaires of ADL, IADL, stress and depression scale. Data obtained at pre and post test were compared between two groups test utilizing two-way ANOVA with repeated measures. The results of this present study were as follows: In ADL factors, exercise group had significant difference between pre and post 12weeks Danjeon breathing and walking exercise program, but control group had no significant difference. In IADL factors, exercise group had significant difference between pre and post 12weeks Danjeon breathing and walking exercise program, but control group had no significant difference. In stress factors, exercise group had significant difference between pre and post 12weeks Danjeon breathing and walking exercise program, but control group had no significant difference. In depression factor, exercise group had significant difference between pre and post 12weeks Danjeon breathing and walking exercise program, but control group had no significant difference. It was concluded that elderly women were improved by exercise training of walking and Kuk Sun Do`s Danjeon breathing was more effective for enhancing daily living fitness.
