The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of combined exercise program on functional fitness and aging hormone in the elderly. This subjects of study were consisted of twenty-nine elderly women were over 65 years old and divided into two groups; 12 subject with hypertension (D group) and 12 subjects with health condition (H group). The combined exercise included resistant exercise, aerobics and balancing exercise using a airboard, and performed 60 min a day, 2 times a week for 24 weeks. All data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA with repeated measure, post hoc test were paired t-test and administered before and after a 24 week combined exercise program. The results were as follows; 1) In the functional fitness such as chair sit-and-reach, back stretch, grip strength (right, left), sit to stand, one leg with eyes open (right, left), and 6 min walk showed a statistically significant difference in after exercise of D group and H group. 2) The levels of DHEA Melatonin, and GH hormone showed significant group by time interactive effects after treatment in D group and H group. Therefore, 24 weeks combined exercise program in elderly women appears to be helpful for changing the functional fitness levels and the aging related hormone.
