The purpose of this study is to find out the status of sports facilities and sport program at 31 multipurpose senior centers located at 25 autonomous districts located in Seoul, and to analyze the problems accordingly. To achieve this, this study was to investigate the present status of sports facilities in each welfare center and sport program, and use the literature review method through the search of related research materials and news articles. From the result of this research above, it may be summed up as follows.
First, the elderly population rate at each autonomous district in Seoul was not proportional to the welfare center. Gangbuk-gu with the highest elderly population rate had one welfare center, but Gangnam-gu with the third lowest elderly population rate had three ones. This study has found out that it affected the installation and management of welfare centers according to the level of financial self-reliance ratio at the autonomous districts. Second, at the sports facilities in each welfare center, all auditoriums which could run sport program were installed, but this study has shown the table tennis room, billiard(pool) room, and fitness room differently in each welfare center. Accordingly, most of programs could be composed as ones to be exercised indoors, but this could result in low facility satisfaction for the elderly, so it could lead to exercise dropout, movement of welfare center, and exercise non-participation. Third, the welfare center where to run sport programs most was located in Nowon-gu, which had 21 programs, and most of events with the sport programs were mainly composed of dance, gymnastics, and yoga. Lastly, the same events among total 428 programs were established, overlapped with the same name, but it is considered what happens because it was operated indoors. Therefore, this researcher considers the welfare center needs to do further investigation about the establishment of sport programs overlapped. If the sport facilities and space affect the program management, it requires the development of program to be utilized.
