The present study aimed to determine and analyze the correlation of and difference in physical self-concept and stress of 55 who were enrolled in the dance sports class in W University from March to June in 2016. SPSS 23.0 statistic program was used for analyzing and verifying the effects of the subjects’ physical self-concept and stress based on the test paper filled out before and after the class. Following conclusions could be drawn from the analysis:
First, the dance sports class turned out to have positive influence upon the physical self-concept (sports competence, appearance, physical activities, self-esteem, flexibility, muscular strength and overall physical conditions), signifying that dance sports and physical self-concept are in a mutually complementary relationship since the former could promote the latter which, in turn, would motivate one to take part in sports continuously.
Second, the dance sports class appeared to be significant exclusively in role non-performance and selfdistrust, indicating that stress may be subject to living environments or personal psychological conditions.
Third, the physical self-concept and stress factors were found to have significant correlation with each other, making it likely to expect changes in stress depending on the effects of physical self-concept. That is, the subjects with increased self-concept could be affected by the extent of stress.
To sum up the above outcomes, it may be said that as the dance sports class is elected voluntarily by college students, it can therefore be useful to develop the sense of competence in sports and reduce stress accordingly in daily life through rhythmic moves that are performed in physical harmony with partners and regular sports activities. While doing dance sports, one can become aware of oneself and foster concern for others. As such, dance sports can become a possible item for the curriculum of life-long education that can help utilize leisure time in a healthy and productive way while living a social life after graduation from college.
