This study is the product of analyzing and summarizing the raw data of corresponding letters and selected copies of letters such as Qianjinghoubian ≪乾淨後編≫, Qianjingfubian ≪乾淨附編≫ between Chosun scholar, Hong Darong and Chinese scholars who lived in Qing dynasty. The letters’ literatures, which compiled by Hong Darong (洪大容), were the product of corresponding letters which were to console his heart that missed Chinese literary scholars in Qing dynasty. Hong Darong compiled the letters’ literatures in order to disperse these literary data to Chosun and Qing, and to continue a tradition of friendship between Chosun literary man like Kim Sang Hun and Chinese literary scholars since in the early period of Qing dynasty and to make the correspondence between Korean and Chinese literary scholars from generation to generation. Such letters’ literatures have systematic and academic features in relation to the historical record and its related literatures and a series of relationship with the trip in which Hong Darong as the Chinese delegation who visited Beijing during the period of Qing dynasty.
Hong Darong compiled these letters’ literatures were used as a mediator for Chosun literary men to understanding and corresponding the Chinese culture and academic tradition in Qing dynasty, and mad a great influences on the critical tradition of literatures both Korean and Chinese literary scholars. These historical data will be used to study the Chosun and Chinese culture and academic tradition of the Qing’s dynasty in 18th century.
