It was suggested that the workers at a multi-cultural family support center need to complete multi-cultural education. First, the requirements for the workers shouldn"t be limited only to social workers and healthy family specialists. Second, the completion of education should be a prerequisite for multi-culture-related majors when employing them as Ministry of Gender Equality and Family(MGEF) has recognized the necessity of the understanding and education of various programs for multi-cultural families until now. The refresher education for multi-culture-related laws and policies in a changing multi-cultural society should be conducted.
Therefore, to improve the understanding of multi-cultural ones under Article 5, Multi-cultural Families Support Act, in Article 5, Paragraph 1, it is stipulated that the state and local governments shall take measures such as education and advocacy activities so that the public may prevent the social discrimination and prejudice on multi-cultural families and recognize and respect the diversity of cultures and in Article 12, Paragraph 5, it is done that the necessary matters concerning qualifications, etc. of professional human resources shall be prescribed by Ordinance of MGEF, and that multi-cultural understanding education for the center workers shall be a prerequisite. Third, when the centers employ and call the workers, their titles are differently expressed. The titles of more than 2,170 ones at 217 centers nationwide shall be unified by MGEF which operates the center. Multi-cultural understanding education for the workers should be the way for multi-cultural families in Korean society to share their difficulties due to settlement in Korean society and rely on each other.
