Objective: This study suggested emotion recovery system for recovering positive emotion of emotional workers without self-effort and verified effectiveness of the emotion recovery system. Background: As the proportion of the service industries and emotional workers increases, the seriousness of the psychological stress of the emotional workers has been raised and policies and studies are being carried out to prevent work-related psychological disease. Therefore, emotion recovery system was proposed for relieving cumulative psychological stress of emotional workers that can be caused by occupational diseases. Method: The system was designed to provide positive visual and auditory stimuli in order to recover positive emotion for emotional workers. Physiological signal (EEG, GSR, and SKT) of 20 subjects were measured to verify effectiveness of the system. Results: After using the emotion recovery system, the subjects’ emotions showed statistically significant positive changes through both subjective and objective evaluations. The results of this study were verified by the effectiveness of the system for inducing positive emotions and reducing negative emotions. Conclusion: Emotion recovery system can minimize the cumulative psychological stress by changing the emotional workers’ negative emotions to positive emotions. Application: The system is expected to be applicable to various environments (driving, customer-facing tasks, telephone services, etc.) where negative emotions can be easily induced from external stimuli.
