Residents have negative views for local hotels even though they have the important role of landmarks in a region. Little research has been conducted on residents’ attitudes and reasons for visiting hotels. The aim of this study was to investigate how to revitalize local hotels by analyzing residents’ attitudes and reasons for visiting hotels. To this end, Focus Group Interviews(FGI) were conducted for in-depth investigation of residents’ opinions and impressions. The FGI participants were made up of three groups of six Daegu residents aged between their 20s and 50s. Each interview lasted for 60-70 minutes. The results follow. In the result of the study, the responses about attitudes towards hotels by Daegu region residents derived were mostly negative with, ``expensive``, ``lacks events``, ``lacks character by hotel``, and ``lacks cultural space.`` However they responded that they would be positive in using hotels if they provided various services (Massage promotions, cultural performances, discounts, cheap package deals). If regional hotels could share culture considering the attitudes of regional residents, it will become a tourism resource of the region. Therefore hotels can become a cultural landmark that represent the region as a space local residents can comfortably enjoy and use.
