The purpose of this study was to compare the two theories (Theory of reasoned action: TRA, Theory of planned behavior: TPB) for predicting participant` intentions to Sports activities among Sport Center members. It was hypothesized that intentions to participate Sports activities can be predicted from attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. Specifically, the addition of perceived behavioral control to the prediction equation is expected to increase the amount of explained variance. 335 Sport Center members completed a battery of questionnaires that was described as dealing with the respondents` views regarding participation in a variety of sports activities. The results of hierarchical regression analyses indicated that attitude toward the sports activity, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control significantly predicted intention to sports activity participation. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated that subjective norm was not significant to the prediction of intention to sports activities in the TRA and TPB model. The intention to leisure participation accounted for more in the model of TPB. More specifically, perceived behavioral control was the most significant contributor to the prediction of intention to leisure participation. The TPB was found to account for a substantially greater percentage of the behavior intention variance than did the TRA. This research provided the basic information of the adherence of sports activities, and future study will be able to investigate such behaviors through this study.
