In this paper, we aimed to reveal the reason and necessity of accepting the conjugated form of verbs as headword in the 〈Korea University Korean Dictionary〉 and introduce the result.
The conjugated form of verbs has been regarded as a additional information of dictionary and has not given independent status as a headword. If the conjugated form of verbs are provided as independent information in the Korean dictionary, it is useful for people using dictionaries. In fact, even for a native speaker, it is difficult to know what the basic form of that conjugated verb is. In order to increase the convenience of dictionary users, we register 7,688 conjugated forms of verbs in the 〈Korea University Korean Dictionary〉. The form selected as a headword is from verbs with high frequency or irregular changed form with difficulty of expecting. We introduced the processing method of microstructure of the dictionary such as pronunciation, part of speech, usage, related words.
