There have been effective activities for regeneration and environment-friendly landscape enhancements at waterfronts around the nation in recent years, and they have increased the demand for harmony among local features, natural environments, and manmade facilities surrounding waterfronts. Several problems have been pointed out, and one of these problems is found in the exterior colors of waterfront water resources management facilities characterized by disharmony with the surrounding landscape and a lack of continuity. This study, thus, set out to investigate the colors of waterfronts and analyze their relationships with the exterior colors of rain water pump stations, which are water resources management facilities; hence, making the characteristics of the waterfront color environments clear and providing implications for the harmonious color planning of water resources management facilities with waterfronts. The subject area was the rain water pump station of Dongducheon City, which pushed forward a maintenance project after large-scale flood damage due to localized heavy rain. The findings of the present study are expected to contribute to the quality improvement of color planning of water resources management facilities.
