According to the Vatican's new statistics yearbook, which is based on figures for 2006, the number of Muslims has overtaken that of Roman Catholics for the first time. Muslims account for 19.2% of the world's population, while Catholics make up 17.4%. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world now a days. In the Philippines religious conversion has received considerable attention for last four decades. This article reports the findings of study among a group of Filipinos who now called themselves 'Balik-Islam'. 'Balik-Islam' are individuals who have made a 'paradigm shift in their ordered view of life from one perspective to another'. They insist on being designated as Balik-Islam('returnees' to Islam) rather than converts. Recently Balik-Islam is a rapidly growing phenomenon, and they became one of the muslim tribes already. Unfortunately, their reversion to Islam has exposed them to what one of the leaders calls 'two-pronged difficulties'. So seven Balik-Islam organizations manifested "Islam teaches peace, law and order not terrorism." in May. 1. 2005. Since Spanish colonial era, it is really hard to be a Muslim in a predominant Catholic country. Muslim-Christian relations in the Philippines have been characterized by mutual animosity and suspicion. When Islam arrived in the Philippines in the twelfth century, native population in Mindanao converted to Islam, both Muslim converts and non-converts continued to live side by side peacefully. Balik-Islam can be an effective bridge between Muslim and Christian.
