By altering the concept of time and rhythm, music can be enriched and - sometimes radically - we can find a way for it to evolve into a whole new style. This research deals with different perspectives on how to apply rhythm upon similar rhythmic structures of Korean traditional music and Jazz, Latin music. Different interpretations are seen in both the way Korean traditional and jazz musicians treat the rhythm at hand. Similarities with rhythm also exist and the goal is to apply alternative approaches to performing and organizing rhythmic material to be able to push into a new direction of comtemporary music. This research represents a preliminary analysis of comparable rhythmic patterns such as Bembe and Jajinmori Jangdan, Jazz Waltz and Semachi Jangdan, New Orleans Second Line Groove and Bright Moon Scene Jangdan, Merengue and Hwimori Jangdan. The possibilities of employing rhythmic resources to each other are endless.
