This study aimed at examining the enjoyment factor and intrinsic motivation of physical education class depending on the participation level of university students who participated in physical education. This survey was conducted involving students from S university in Gyeonggi-do who had participated in physical education. Data collected from 237 students except for three respondents who answered insincerely were analyzed. The results showed that there were differences between groups. As for gender, female students showed higher results than their male counterparts. As for grade, lower graders received better results than higher graders. As for cognitive level, difference in exercise awareness was detected in all the enjoyment factor, and difference in intrinsic motivation was found in sub-factors other than effort-importance. Difference in exercise behavior practice was found only in keeping health in physical & psychological aspect, and difference in intrinsic motivation was detected in perceived competence and interest enjoyment. Exercise frequency and exercise intensity which belonged to behavioral level showed no difference in enjoyment factor. As for intrinsic motivation, difference in perceived competence was found in frequency and intensity, and difference in interest enjoyment was detected only in frequency. The results above indicate that motivation methods which highly perceive exercise ability or enable for constant exercise should be sought.
