There are two types of Serial-Verbs Construction in the Western Zhou Dynasty. The first type sees verbs as clauses, and this Serial-Verbs Construction can be classified as a complex sentence. The second type is the two Verbs in Serial-Vebs Construction must be seen as unity. Since the Chunqiu and Zhanguo period, Serial-Verbs Construction, which can be seen as a combination of clauses, has been used continuously. On the other hand, the second type of Serial-Verbs Construction where two verbs are seen as unity has disappeared. The reason for this is that this type of Serial-Verbs construction has the same syntactic form with the Coordinate Structure and the Adverbial-Verb Structure, so that when different explanations are given to the same verb, types of structures can also be changed, which in turn can affect the meaning of the whole sentence. In the Chunqiu and Zhanguo period, there is also an Serial-Verb Construction followed by “而” which comes right before or after the verb. Serial-verb construction with “而” has semantic focus in the end and verbs are more closely related semantically compared to Serial-Verb Construction which is not followed by “而”. As a result, serial-verb construction with “而” can be the semantic component in the simple sentence.
