This study was conducted to understand about construction of scientific concept regarding respiration for middle school students of 3rd grade in the science textbooks in the seventh national curriculum. First of all, a questionnaire was carefully designed by 10 items related to respiration through practical experience at schools and careful scrutinization of the science textbooks. We examined to 100 students with equal number of female and male pupils. Following careful survey, several misconceptions were recognized from the middle school students. Therefore, we tried to find out the prime factor which affecting elements the establishment of scientific concept and misconception among the students. We found that there was no significant differences between male and female middle school students. Accordingly, we could suggest that various teaching models as strategies to reduce such misconceptions from the middle school students. It is known that the purpose of the seventh national curriculum in sciences aims not only for reducing the amount of learning and dealing with educational contents but also for reducing misconceptions at school students through practical experiments or experiences. As a matter of facts, such aimed goals of the seventh national curriculum have been achieved in part by the fact that such approach and application at schools. Nevertheless,it was also recognized that many misconceptions still exist at school students from this survey and research. In addition, we should stress that science teaching instructors are one of the main factors affecting in reform of learners' scientific concepts.
