Kim, D.Y., Kim, C.S., Lee, S.E., Park, D.H. Distribution of 5-HTT Gene Polymorphism Effected by Race and Major. Exercise Science. 17(4): 413-422, 2008. The purpose of this study was to compare the distribution of 5-HTT genotype among various nations including south korea and to determine whether 5-HTT genotype could be associated with physical education major. To achieve our purpose, the 5-HTT genotypes of 173 physical education major students and 134 non major students total 307 male students were determined. In addition, we compared the 5-HTT genotypic frequencies among nations which previously published, and also analyzed the difference of frequencies in 5-HTT genotype of physical education major and non-major students. The results were followed as : firstly, there were significant differences with Chinse, German, Europeans, Americans, England and South African(p<.05), whereas no difference with Japanese, which meant that according to the geograpical positon as well as human races might effect the distribution of 5-HTT genotypes. Secondly, there was significant difference between physical education major and non-major students in 5-HTT genotypic distribution(p<.05), especially frequency of LL type in non-major students was higher than physical education major students, which indicated that 5-HTT genotype may effect the decision making of physical education major.
