The objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between private English education experiences and motivational styles. A total number of 145 primary school students in a large city and a rural area were selected as subjects for this study. They were given a questionnaire concerning their English private education experiences and motivational styles about the dominance of five pairs of meta- motivational states(Apter, 2010). The overall results of the study showed that 80% of participants have received and are still receiving English private education. Second, students who are not receiving English private education strongly prefer arousal avoidance and conformity compared to ones who are receiving English private education. These findings support the idea that it is necessary to analyze the students’ private English education experiences for public education normalization.
