Based on the study of Ba-construction found in six basic Chinese textbooks published in Korea and China, this paper explores the differences between the compilation principles of these textbooks in terms of explaining and providing examples of the Ba-construction grammar items to develop basic Chinese textbooks for undergraduates. Korean textbooks mostly begin with a comparison between Korean and Chinese and place much emphasis on understanding the meaning of the sentence. Chinese textbooks make a lot of comparisons, while emphasizing both the form and the meaning. In closing, this paper offers some suggestions for the writing of the textbook used by Korean students. For example, the grammatical explanation should match the typical examples that appear in the textbook; formulaic grammatical patterns should be provided. This study can be provided as a service in writing of the textbooks as well as on teaching methods.
