Traditional historiography of the France under Nazi occupation has been so far dominated by the dichotomy of Collaboration and Resistance. A study of Vichy France by Robert Faxton in 1972 produced a effect that extend historical arguments, but it did not succeed in changing the composition of dichotomy. During the last ten years, however, new stream grow out of the study of French everyday life under German occupation, and attempt to pass over the dichotomous point of view. This paper deal with the relationship between the family policy in Vichy France and the mixed life of German military and French women on the basis of new studies of France under the occupation. Although Vichy France tried to promote traditionalist family policy for ‘national revolution’, their attempt were not accomplished because of historical particularity of France under the occupation. This particularity, on the contrary, produced a strange policy, ‘born under the X’, that Vichy France could not adopt in the face with reality.
