Sentinel lymph node를 찾기 위한 시각적 표식자로 Isosulfan blue dye의 이용이 malignant lymphoma, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, head and neck surgery 및 산부인과 영역에서는 cervical cancer, vulvar cancer 수술시 많이 이용될 것으로 기대된다. 비교적 안전하며, 인체에 무해한 것으로 알려진 isosulfan blue dye가 투여 후 20분 이내에는 급성 과민반응이 일어날 수 있음을 문헌을 통해, 그리고 실제로 경험한 바 이를 보고하는 바이다.
