The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the effects of population changes on regional economy due to changes in population, human capital with technology, and non-working(ageing) population by using regional statistical data of the National Statistical Office and the Bank of Korea from 2003 to 2016. As a result, the increased number of labor due to the increase of population decreased the production, consumption and capital steady-state of the metropolitan city and province, but the rate of convergence was rather increased. That is, growth of region was not achieved only by the growth of population. In addition, the increase of effective labor drove relatively decreasing tendency of capital and human capital along with consumption divergence in metropolitan city but province not. The growth of capital and golden rule of consumption due to increase of effective labor drove convergence in province. Finally, the increase of the non-working population, aging population, decreased capital, production and consumption of both metropolitan city and province, however, which resulted in an increase in technical progress. Therefore, with applying growth model to different regions, this study showed empirical results of the changes of population factors on change of regional economic factors.
