“Korean-style design” is fundamentally regarded as “design claiming to support our original tradition”. A process needs to be undergone to see if Korean culture is really appropriate to develop as the world’s initiative culture. Accordingly, this study will examine the development of the trends of Korean-style fashion design over time profoundly to determine ways to develop Koreanstyle fashion design at this point when the world is noticing Korean culture. As a study method, a literature review was conducted to consider the concepts and characteristics of Korean-style fashion design. Then, The author arranged Korean-style images and expression types applied as formative elements into three steps, provided implications and suggestions, and systematized a framework to analyze the current status of Korean-style fashion design. Based on this, this researcher conducted a design analysis of fashion images and performed expert’s in-depth interview. Thus, this study examines how society and culture changed from the 1990s to 2016 in accordance with the contexts of the times, the gap between theory and practice, and the characteristics of Korean-style fashion design currently in demanded. This study suggests the grounds necessary to predict the direction of the development of Korean-style fashion design currently in demand.
