This study focuses on the problem of so-called "Japanese grammar for communication," which claims that improving communication skills is the main purpose of grammar instruction. The purpose of this study was to examine how Korean Japanese learners who majored in Japanese recognized the efficiency of Japanese education grammar. The results are summarized as follows.

[1] Japanese learners expressed strong disagreement with the opinion that if expressions that are not used much in daily life can be excluded from the elementary grammar syllabus.
[2] Japanese language learners prefer to study grammatical items with similar expressions and plural expressions simultaneously in the same chapter.
[3] Japanese language learners were burdened with learning grammar that was helpful for communication, even if they were learning higher-level content first.
[4] Japanese language learners were found to be negatively assessing the trend that communication skills were given priority over accuracy in overall Japanese grammar education.
[5] Finally, as a result of evaluating the current elementary Japanese grammar curriculum at B university, it was found that learners did not have negative perception. However, learners tended to prefer to be run by Korean teachers as much as possible in the elementary Japanese language course.
