This purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the Taekwon Gymnastic Program on body composition, abdominal and femoral fat in the Severely Obese Middle-School girls. Subjects were composed of fourteen 25-30% obese middle-school girl. The Taekwon Gymnastic Program was performed 60-80 minutes per day, 4 days per week at 50-70% of HRmax during 1~12weeks. The items for abdominal fat volume were measured subcutaneous fat volume(SFV), visceral fat volume(VFV), VFV/SFV and femoral fat by CT(computed tomography). Paired t-tests were used to evaluate the difference of pre and post 12weeks the Taekwon Gymnastic Program. The 0.05 level of significance was the critical level for the study.
The results of this study are as follow;
1. Body composition was significantly(p<.05) increased an weight, %fat and TBF, LBM, BMI were significantly(p<.05) decreased in the Taekwon Gymnastic Program group. Control group was a little increased by total body fat, but lean body mass was no significant difference.
2. TAF, SFV, VFV and VSR(VFV/SFV) were significantly(p<.05) decreased in the Taekwon Gymnastic Program group. and Control group was a little increased by TAF, SFV, VFV, but VSR(VFV/SFV) was no significant difference.
In overall, body composition, abdominal and femoral fat were decreased in the Taekwon Gymnastic Program. So it is could be thought that long-term involvement in the Taekwon Gymnastic Program improve body composition and acts a an obesity treatment.
