This study examine roles of the United Nations in process of nation building of the Republic of Korea. In the past studies, studies on contribution of the United Nations are under-researched and ignored while progressive and conservative school of thoughts have provided historical interpretations on history of nation building at the early stage of modern Korean history in their own perspectives. This paper reveal roles of the United Nations in building of the Republic of Korea by using primary sources of the United Nations and suggest new interpretation on historiography of modern Korean history.
