Hyperlipidemia is a pivotal risk factor of various cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis and aortic valve sclerosis and stenosis. The infiltration of immune cells and local lipid accumulation are prominent features of atherosclerosis and aortic valve sclerosis. To understand the pathophysiology of hyperlipidemic cardiovascular diseases, we previously performed single cell RNA (scRNA) sequencing analysis and revealed that there are macrophage subpopulations having distinct differentially expressed genes involved in various functional pathways.
