Siemens Process Systems Engineering Limited (Siemens PSE), formerly Process Systems Enterprise Limited, has been providing a leading Advanced Process Modeling platform, gPROMS, since 1997 for digital design and digital operations in various process industries. Digitalization can be defined in various ways and basically combines data and intelligence to assess the past and the present and then to make the best decision in designing and operating for the future. Siemens PSE considers the role of the physics-based models as the most important part of the digitalization in process industries, because the data are usually not enough to accommodate data-driven modeling approaches while the system is closed with well-understood physics, chemistry, and engineering experiences.
