Microplastics can threaten marine ecosystems, as well as human health, through physical, chemical, and biological mechanisms. Stone cell of pear fruit can replace microplastics in toothpaste and cosmetic products. To analyze the availability as a microplastics alternatives originated from young fruits by fruit thinning, we examined the stone cell content and related gene expression during fruit development stage in pear cultivars. The stone cell content of the fruits was determined using frozen-HCl treatment. The transcript accumulations of cinnamoyl-CoA reductase (CCR) and cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase (CAD) were examined using quantitative real-time RT-PCR.
