Introduction and Background
Recent studies suggest preoperative corticosteroid injections are a risk factor for post-operative infection and re-tear in rotator cuff repair (RCR). Postoperative infection, re-rupture, and revision rates were compared between patients who did and did not receive pre-operative injections before primary RCR.
Material and Method
Seventy shoulders in 67 patients underwent primary RC by a single surgeon (2005-2019). Patient age, sex, BMI, comorbidities, and subacromial corticosteroid injection history were collected. Cuff integrity was evaluated postoperatively using ultrasound or MRI and infection was based on clinical diagnosis. Independent sample t-tests assessed differences in means and Chi-squared tests assessed differences in proportions (p<0.05).
Results
Thirty-five patients were in the no pre-operative injection (age 62.7±14.4 years, BMI 25.4±3.1, 23 males, 13 females) and 16 patients received preoperative injection (age 60.7±10.3 years, BMI 27.9±3.7, 11 male^_@span style=color:#999999 ^_# ... ^_@/span^_#^_@a href=javascript:; onclick=onClickReadNode('NODE10566547');fn_statistics('Z354','null','null'); style='color:#999999;font-size:14px;text-decoration:underline;' ^_#전체 초록 보기^_@/a^_#
