In this paper, we discussed about the body image of a Yokai, which is commonly referred to as Tenome in Japan. As its name suggests, a Tenome Yokai is a Yokai with eyes in hands. That is to say, it is a Yokai formed by combining hands and eyes among the body images of a yokai. This paper considers the body image of a Yokai, taking Tenome as an example, especially with the correlation between hands and eyes in mind. The eyes are a big part of the Japanese ghost image. When looking at the image of a ghost that expresses the eyes, it is either subdivided according to the number of eyes, or it is expressed by drawing only the eyes separately. In this paper, we first discussed the relationship between the hands and the eyes, and thus, whether Tenome was established. Next, it was pointed out that there are two types of Tenome paintings that are currently being conveyed and attempted to clarify the somatic meaning of the difference between the types of paintings. In the case of the first type, a Yokai with eyes on the face and eyes in the hands for the last time, and the second type is a Yokai with eyes in hands instead of eyes on the face. In the latter case, it was pointed out that it was necessary to note that it was drawn in the form of a blind man, and pursued its folklore meaning.
