The purpose of this research is to determine speaker intent as well as the forms of power and solidarity that act on that intent when mismatched hearer honorific expressions are used. To this end, the forms of fixed honorifics usage by the speaker and the hearer were divided into ‘cases when honorific expressions are not used, Ø+honorifics for the listener, referent honorifics+honorifics for the listener’. In addition, analysis was conducted from the perspective of power and solidarity regarding the change to ‘referent honorifics+Ø’ based on speaker intent. The results of the analysis showed that for speaker intent where power acted on mismatched hearer honorific expressions, intent was for asking permission/approval, permission/approval, rejection, request A·B, protest, criticism, sarcasm, gratitude, apology, and opinion. Power was shown to act owing to the dominance relationship from these intents or because of the nonreciprocal relationship between the speaker and the listener that is formed by the confrontational attitude of the speaker. Meanwhile, for the speaker intent where solidarity act, intents of request C and empathy were found. These intents can be explained through the creation of a reciprocal relationship by the friendly attitude of the speaker.
