Cho, Wooyoung. “The Syntactic Position of Locative PPs in PTC & LIC.” Studies in English Language & Literature 46.3 (2020): 433-456. The current study aims to clarify that the movement of locative PPs in Presentational There Construction and Locative Inversion Construction is to satisfy Discourse-functional requirements as well as EPP. Following Pesetsky & Torrego(2001)'s proposal that EPP, which motivates movement, may be a property of other features, this paper introduces a new projection RefP with the notion of "Specificity". It is assumed that Ref head of RefP has <+specific> feature, and <+specific> Ref needs to agree with a <+specific> element in [Spec, RefP]. And therefore, Specificity has an impact on the dislocation of locative PPs in PTC & LIC. In this paper, it is argued that the movement phenomenon of locative PPs in PTC & LIC is triggered by Specificity and its sub-feature, EPP. (Chonbuk National University)
