Prolonged metabolic complications, such as diabetic retinopathy, elevates ocular inflammation and/or ER stress. Aruncus dioicus var. kamtschaticus (ADK) is an edible traditional resources in Korea which has significant antioxidantive and antibacterial properties. In this study, we set up research hypothesis that ADK treatment would decrease ocular inflammation and ER stress in ARPE-19 cells. ADK extract (0-100 μg/mL) prevented lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-inducible ocular inflammation by attenuation of phosphorylation of MAPK-NFκB axis and cytokine mRNA expression.
