This article explores the meaning of “science” in the context of Confucian and Islamic thoughts with comparing Western “science.” The concept of science in the Modern West is the very core concept of itself. The “science” has functioned somehow in the Modern World instead of the Christianity after the French Revolution. It is possible to say that “science” should be called a kind of “religion” in the Modern West. So the Europeans think that the “science” could not be translated or implanted to other language, like “philosophy.” But in the early 20th century, it has done by Japanese in the cultural sphere in where Chinese characters are used and imported. For the Modern West at that time, it was impossible to think, because “science” was a like God. So New Confucianism and Neo Islamism are often questioned its character of “science,” then there are many animadversions that they are not the “pure science.” They are also asked whether they are “religion” or not, however, now the Modern West is facing the situation they needs the “science of science.” This paper considers this sentence of Pierre Bourdieu. When one thinks about the “science of science,” one is required some imagination for transcendence over the world.al-Afghānī already has noticed about it in the debate with Ernest Renan. For having the “science of science,” the absolute discontinuity between this world and the Celestial City is most important condition. In Islam and Confucian, this condition has considered already.
