This study considered the characteristics of battle culture through the elements of battle culture in street dance. The battle culture is a post-spatial dance party to expand his/her own space based on the pursuit of united body while pursuing the horizontal competitive structure, taking the open structure showing the whole process, and feeling amusement with music played by DJ based on the sports tournament form emphasizing fairness and equity. Therefore, it aims for a meaningful cultural place where judges, dancers, and audience could all harmonize, coexist, and interact together. Like this, the battle culture has its own unique elements that cannot be found from other genres, and these elements coexist within an organic relation. Instead of the competition-oriented culture to contend just for victory, it is based on the process-oriented culture to pursue viewing each other in the equal & horizontal relation, beyond race, religion, nationality, and social status. Considering these characteristics, the battle culture is not a partial performance of street dance, but a central medium that develops street dance through competition and evaluation in the open system. Thus, the street dance should be more developed by emphasizing and systematizing the characteristics of battle culture.
