Performing arts have been thriving in Korea, and musicals are extremely popular attracting more than 13 million audiences in one year. As the nation's musical Industry expands, the number of studies related to musical theaters is increasing in academia. However, most of the research has focused on the stage and auditorium, and the study of the audience service area has been isolated. This study was intended to address the trends and needs of the audience service area in musical theater. Three major musical theaters in the nation were chosen for the study, and an analysis of the spatial composition, a circulation analysis, and user interviews were conducted. Based on the results, the trend in the audience service area and the needs of the users were analyzed. The results of the study are as follows: the entrances have changed to a focus layout on the yard or relationship to the peripheral programs, and users demand a direct connection to the parking lot, outer space, and neighboring commercial and cultural facilities. In narrow halls, standing tables or furniture with simple designs are preferred. The commercial section is the space that immediately responds to users' needs and is also the most important consideration in the remodeling of the modern performance hall. Users are demanding more and more commercial facilities and are increasingly interested in food and beverage services for performances. Accordingly, it serves to supplement the insufficient rest space with a second lounge.
