말초 삽입 중심정맥도관(peripherally inserted central venous catheter, PICC)의 삽입은 미숙아의 정맥영양이나 약물투여를 위한 장기간 정맥로의 확보를 위해서 필요하나, 드물게 도관 끝의 위치 이상과 연관되어 심막삼출 등 치명적 경과를 초래할 수 있다. 저자들은 미숙아에서 PICC 삽입 후 도관 끝이 우심방에 꺾인 형태로 위치하면서 심막삼출이 시술후 조기에 발생한 예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다.
