Elementary school students tend to think that history is past having nothing to do with themselves and the characters and events in history are special. Unable to realize the relation between oneself and history, they are not interested in history. Furthermore, they do not know that described history is the important facts that historians have chosen and interpreted of many events of the past. It is because they can’t learn this point of view in the current curriculum that organizes historic events in chronological order. Therefore, exploration and interpretation disappear in history class and the students think of history book as something of absolute truth and to memorize by any means. To improve this, it is necessary to let them realize that history is related to them and “I” in the present is part of history. At this point, family can be effective. Therefore, this study carried out a project with family history. In the project of exploration to history, young students became historians themselves; interviewed their family members; and collected and interpreted related data; and described their family history from the perspective of a member of family. The students found their view of history changing during the process of the project.
