Abstract: One of the positive impact of the revival of the municipality to cultural activities in the Korea is the opening of museums. Especially through the expansion project of cultural infrastructure since 1996 the number of museums is increased rapidly. Thus there were lots of efforts to increasing the viewing effect in the exhibition through quality improvement of museum environment. At the same time the museum is necessary to establish monitoring systems for the exhibits inside the museum for the protection of those. However the grasp of the situation as well as the active research does not work properly even know. This study is to understand the direct surveillance system in conjunction with the installation of closed circuit television (CCTV) by targeting the public museum. Through the study it is planned to present the guidelines for the installation of (CCTV) in museum. This study led to the following conclusions. The quantity of cameras in national and public museums of history is based on a proportional scale to the floor area of exhibition space. In addition to this, the more complex the space is, the more camera installation is required. And the fewer employees to directly monitor is, the more dependant to the camera is required. In the space syntax analysis, even higher average connectivity, the lower the average integration and the lower average intelligibility of the entire space available to visitors are, there needed more number of CCTV. For location of the CCTV, If the camera located on the convex space of lower control value and of higher integration value, it required more cameras on the whole exhibition space.
