The purpose of this study is to examine the current status and achievements of research on Chinese population history, and to present reliable long-term statistics on Chinese population history through comparative analysis of related data.
This study is necessary for the following reasons. First, with the help of population figures, historical events can be described more accurately. Second, with the help of population figures, you can have more diverse perspectives. Third, newer discoveries and new explanations can be made with the help of recent research results rather than old data.
What I did in this study was: First, the usefulness of the previous papers on the Chinese population history was reviewed by collecting as many as possible. Second, almost all books on Chinese population history were collected and reviewed. As a result, "Chinese Population History"(2000～2002) by Ge Jian-xiong and four others was evaluated as the best. Third, based on this book, the state of population change from the end of the Warring States period to the present is summarized in a chart, and a brief explanation is attached here.
Those interested in China"s ancient population history should first refer to the books written by Ge Jian-xiong and others. However, this paper deals with long-term population history. Therefore, if you need knowledge about the population history of a specific dynasty or a specific region, you will have to look at the data that has been studied narrowly and deeply about the period and region.
It is also necessary for future academic development to summarize and introduce existing research results. This study is the first to do such a work on the population history of China in Korea. Researchers interested in China"s population history will be able to quickly and easily understand the current state of China"s population history research by reading this paper.
