Recently, fuel cells are attracting attention as a countermeasure against the depletion of fossil fuels and climate change as energy demand continues to increase due to industrialization. Since the fuel cell directly converts the chemical energy of the fuel into electrical energy, it is more efficient than the existing internal combustion engine and has a simpler system. In addition, since it discharges pure water, it is eco-friendly because it can reduce the generation of greenhouse gases and pollutants. Due to all these advantages, fuel cells are being applied in various fields for portable transportation and power generation. With the widespread use of power, fuel cells can also power cardiac pacemakers, devices for electrical stimulation, implantable medical devices, and drug delivery in the medical field. Hydrogen is used as a fuel for most fuel cells, but storage and transportation are not easy, and in particular, green hydrogen production is relatively inefficient, so the related technology is continuously being developed. For these reasons, liquid fuels such as methanol, ethanol, and glucose have been studied.
